Music industry hot shots will be dishing out free advice to young hip-hop hopefuls at a special forum to be held in Blacktown.
The forum, called Hook Me Up, will provide valuable tips and techniques about releasing music, booking gigs, artist management and more.
Speakers include Ozibatla (The Herd), ARIA nominees MC Trey (Foreign Heights) and Naomi Wenitong (Shakaya) and many others.
There will also be an open mic session where participants can flex their skills with beats from DJ Nick Toth (Foreign Heights).
The forum will feature special guest performances from participants of the Duets program – a hip-hop mentorship scheme managed by Granville based arts organisation Information and Cultural Exchange (ICE).
MC Trey, an established hip-hop artist who manages the urban music program at ICE, sees the forum as a great opportunity for emerging artists to learn about the industry: “When I was starting out, I was fortunate enough to have the opportunity to learn from other musicians. Now it feels good to be able to share my experiences with younger artists.”
Hook Me Up will take place at the Max Webber Function Centre in Blacktown on October 11 at 6pm.
To register call Information and Cultural Exchange (ICE) on 02 9897 5744.
Hook Me Up is presented by Information and Cultural Exchange (ICE) and Blacktown Youth Services Association (BYSA). ICE’s urban music program is supported by the Australia Council for the Arts and the Vodafone Australia Foundation.
