Digital stories and hip-hop for young people
ICE is currently recruiting participants for our first free TAFE-accredited hip-hop and digital storytelling program for unemployed young people aged 15-25.
Young people from Refugee and Migrant backgrounds, who live in the Western Suburbs, and are interested in developing a career in these industries are encouraged to apply.
This free 8-week course will be facilitated by ARIA nominee/ hip-hop artist MC Trey and photographer Maylei Hunt who recently completed the Digitales training program at ICE with London-based organisation, Hi8us.
“Digital Storytelling is a great way to include several mediums to get your point across and to tell your story” says Maylei.
“This is something new for us as the young people will learn all these new skills and will be able to walk away with a song and music video/digital story” says Trey.
The program, run in partnership with South Western Sydney Institute Granville TAFE Outreach, will be run at the Switch Multimedia and Digital Arts Access Centre in Granville.
By the end of the course participants will have created and recorded their own lyrics and music, and will also produce their own digital story and receive a TAFE Statement of Attainment.
