Hip-Hop Projections 3
The Urban Music Project Showcase
Saturday May 24
7-9pm @ Carriageworks
245 Wilson Street, Eveleigh
As part of the Sydney Writers’ Festival, join us to celebrate the achievements of the Urban Music Project in a dynamic night of live performance and video projections as we launch the Urban Music CD and book, Subtext 2.
The ICE Urban Music Project is about self expression and skills and above all, hip-hop! Led by ARIA-nominee MC Trey, with support from the Vodafone Australia Foundation, Arts NSW, the Australia Council and Granville TAFE, the project has been making a big difference in the lives of young people from Western Sydney.
Throughout 2007-08 the project ran five music programs: Hip-hop 101, Suburban Sistas, African Soundz, Island Beatz and Duets. This exciting event at the Sydney Writers’ Festival is the culmination of this work!
The evening will feature participants from the Urban Music Project, alongside established MCs, singers, dancers and guest tutors including MC Trey, DJ Nick Toth, OziBatla (The Herd), Mic Champion, Darrio Phillips and the Eminent Family with visual projections by Spook, Fadia Abboud and Ben Hoh.
