ICE at Making Links 2009
ICE was a key partner in another successful Making Links conference in November. Linking individuals, organisations and groups working at the intersection of social action and IT, this year’s conference highlighted the theme of ‘sustaining communities in tough times.’
Around 160 activists, community and health workers and technology and government delegates converged on Melbourne to participate in the three-day conference.
Making Links kicked off with a film festival which showcased some grass-roots community projects that successfully use technology and digital media. Several of ICE’s digital stories were screened as part of this presentation.
ICE’s Gary Paramanathan presented at the conference and spoke about
Create Media, a project working with young refugees and recently
arrived from Western Sydney to develop digital media-based social
enterprises.
ICE has been an organiser of the Making Links conference since 2004.
