CREATE Media! Film Announced as Festival Finalist

A short film made by participants from ICE’s CREATE Media! project has been announced as a finalist in the PNAN Youth Arts Festival.

The film, Inner Game, was written by Sheruni Peiris and portrays the story of an insecure young girl who is faced with the challenge of changing herself to please those around her. The film deals with issues of drugs and alcohol.

“It’s really about an inside voice that we listen to no matter our age, and if we abandon that voice it could damage our lives” commented Director Saber Baluch. “It’s also about the culture and faith in which you are brought up, and the immediate consequences of abandoning something like that.”

The film’s Producer, Aisha Kamara, found the experience both challenging and motivating: “It was more than I expected, hard work but worth it in the end. I was running around organising locations, auditions, costumes…pretty much everything to get it working”.

All crew roles in the film were filled by Create Media participants. There were also cameo roles in the film by Lazare Nyembo and Aisha Kamara.

PNAN Arts Youth Festival is a creative arts festival run by NSW Health and Metro Screen. It celebrates the works of young artists aged 16-25, particularly focusing on issues of drugs and alcohol.
